Scenarios

Scenarios are alternate versions of a client’s data. Each scenario has its own assets, transactions, retirement entries, portfolio choice, and Client settings (a clone of global settings that applies only to that scenario). You can compare outcomes by adding several scenarios (e.g. “Conservative”, “Moderate”, “Aggressive”) and switching between them.

  • The client page (Profile tab and other tabs) always shows the current scenario. All edits apply to the current scenario.
  • Scenario data is independent: changing Settings applies when you next open a client but does not change data already saved in scenarios.
  • The current scenario’s cashflow calculations can be exported as Excel from the Tables tab → Cashflow sub-tab (see Export a client).

On the client Profile tab, the scenario card shows the name of the current scenario and a menu (⋮) with: Edit, Switch, New, Duplicate.

To view or work on a different scenario, use Switch in the scenario card menu. The client edit form opens with a Current Scenario dropdown; pick the scenario you want, then save. The client page reloads and all tabs show that scenario’s data.

In the scenario card menu, choose New. A drawer opens. Enter a Scenario Name (e.g. “Conservative Plan”), set the other fields as needed, then click Save. The new scenario is created and becomes the current scenario. You can then add assets, transactions, and so on for that scenario.

In the scenario card menu, choose Edit. A drawer opens with the current scenario’s details. You can change the Scenario Name and other profile fields. Click Save when done. Scenario data (assets, transactions, etc.) is edited in the usual tabs (Assets, Transactions, Retirement, Tables).

To copy the current scenario (including its data) into a new scenario, choose Duplicate in the scenario card menu. The new scenario is created from a copy of the current one and opens in the drawer so you can rename it and adjust. Use Duplicate when you want a variant of an existing scenario (e.g. “Plan B” from “Plan A”).

Deleting scenarios is not available from the client page. Deleting a client removes all of that client’s scenarios (see Client list).
